I mean, so the point that confidence is good is a good point. HOWEVER, this comment comes pretty close to blaming that girl for her own lack of relationships, which is pretty unfair.

Yep! it’s a myth :) Basically, stubble looks darker than longer hair for a number of reasons, and perhaps that’s where that myth came from. If you waited for that stubble to grow out to a longer length, it would be the same thickness as before you shaved. Shaving can’t change the thickness of your hair or the number

Hahahaha

Yes? I don’t ask people to produce their medical records to prove to me that they had cancer. If they say “I’m a cancer survivor” I’m not gonna be like “mmmm are you really? Could it have been a cold instead? Are you sure that wasn’t a misunderstanding with your doctor?”

ok

nope

South by South is a lovely, gender neutral name :)

Yes!!!!

omg that little nugget reminds me of my little brother when he was much younger than his current 13 years on this planet <3 <3 <3

Wow dude I think you had a break with reality. I’m aware of what Title IX is and how it works, as I spent a good part of my undergrad doing sexual assault awareness. As I said, I didn’t/don’t go to NU, and as such, it’s pretty obvious that I am not one of the people filing the suit, so I don’t know what this “fuck

I mean, okay, you can ignore everything else I said, I guess. Yes, replying to the chronicle is a good idea and better than the daily northwestern but again, power dynamics. the point is someone used their position of power to shit all over and infantilize undergrads who were assaulted or felt violated by professors.

I think an inappropriate swimsuit is possible. I mean, an inappropriate swimsuit I think is one with really gross writing. Like, your kid might not have any idea what it means, but other adults do and I’m not on board. Everyone gets to do them, but I would be scandalized if someone wore a tiny babby swimsuit with like

I mean, I don’t disagree. I think that this is an attempt to work around some of the inherent power dynamics involved in “I’m a professor who wrote some pretty misogynistic, condescending stuff” and “I’m a student who can write whatever in the newspaper and be soundly ignored.”

I don’t go to NU but that essay was the fucking worst. I don’t know if I would have filed a Title IX complaint, but it was flippant and smug in an incredibly harmful way. I don’t disagree that she has the right to write whatever, ~academic freedom~ or not, and maybe Title IX is not the best approach, but there’s no

Wow you really told me.

This is legit but somehow I doubt that 98% of people all have mobility issues and aren’t standing up because they are incapable/it would be unduly difficult. If it happened every once in a while, that would be an entirely different conversation. However, in the US, I find that it happens an overwhelming majority of

I don’t cry, but man, walking down the street when the sun is shining is enough to get me feeling awe. I just get this feeling of how incredible it is to be alive, on this planet, where each individual I pass on the street has a life as rich and complex as my own, with its own pain and its own successes. I look at

NOT GETTING UP WHEN PEOPLE ARE GETTING BY OH MY GAWD

Yessss! I watched silence of the lambs and enjoyed it but had no trouble sleeping afterwards. Not so for anything involving satan >_>
