I certainly did not see it that way. And I find it interesting that it's only with 12 that people find it easy to believe he often chooses to let people die.

Capaldi has shown his genius in the role since Deep Breath. He's had amazing turns in every episode. Yes, Heaven Sent was a tour de force but that shouldn't minimize the amazing work he's done throughout. It seems people are just starting to pay attention. Capaldi has been knocking it out of the park for 3 years

He couldn't have. People who think otherwise really need to re-watch that scene.

I saw the Doctor as conceding this point to Clara when he quoted her rant back to her during in the Forrest of the Night episode. "I walk your Earth, I breathe your air". He was admitting she was correct at that point. At least to me.

Is the Doctor automatically responsible for the lives of everyone around him the second he enters a space? If so what is the radius? 10 feet? 10 miles? In this case a kid steals his sonic and runs off attracting the attention of a hungry fish who winds up eating him. The Doctor gives chase and arrives in time to

I started Doctor Who with series 8. I watched a newly regenerated man go from closed off, confused, gruff and down-right rude to more patience & acceptance over the course of the series. He went from no hugging to allowing a hug. He went from hating banter to actually bantering. He went from ignoring others

It didn't need explaining since he didn't let "that kid die".

I have a love/hate relationship with Moffat-Who. His work has been both brilliant and annoying throughout. For me the high was his bold selection of Peter Capaldi. He has been simply brilliant as 12 and the saving grace of both series 8 & 9. I am in early mourning over the possibility of losing him with Moffat

Thank you! This is my thought exactly. Clara's self-centeredness has never been more on display than in this episode. Looks like this is a duplicate.

I thouoght Capaldi has never looked better than he did in Under the Lake. I'm loving the holey jumper, hoodie and crombie look!
