Cheap is a good way to describe that kind of horror. Horror that comes from abjection is way more interesting to me than horror predicated on violence, even if it's abject violence.

Yeah that's fair — that's what really got me about the pilot too. Based on what I've heard switching to Coven might be a good idea, especially since witches are my favourite (though I've heard the seasons are pretty uneven anyway).

Really? That's good to know. I love gothic stuff but have no tolerance for real horror, especially when it's sexualized. Maybe I'll try the second season.

I moved to TO from the West Coast and it was a bit of a process adjusting to the cold, but I have it nailed now; on extremely (-30 or less) days this is what it looks like:

We have a dog that has had fear biting issues but I think it's a bit more manageable because he's a chihuahua-x, and so it's easy enough to physically restrain him without fear of being hurt by him.
