The times have a lot to do with it as well. If it were conceivable in the 1920s and 1940s, Edith Wilson and Eleanor Roosevelt would have had the possibility of political office.

Sure, and likewise he would not have become president if she hadn’t been there to manage many of his early campaigns, work a corporate law job she hated so that he was free to take lower paying political positions, etc. The idea that his achievements are his alone but hers are shared between the two of them is sexist

But you haven’t said that. You said that he is what has gotten her there and nothing about her own accomplishments. I agree people and family have helped her but she also helped herself too.

True but politics is all about contacts and perception for all the candidates.

“Jumping down my throat”

No. In 1992 when her husband was running, there were many people asking if the wrong Clinton was running.

But that’s true of everyone in the country! No one is statistically likely to become a senator or Sec. of State- but other than her gender, she had every single prerequisite for that trajectory and other women had done it, it’s not as though only a former first lady could possibly reach those goals.

I responded and I am sorry I did since it seems likely, based upon writing style and behavior, that this is the exact same troll who bashes Hillary and lies about her record on the reg over on Gawker and The Slot.

Can we all agree that Bill Clinton wouldn’t have had a political career if it wasn’t for the Rodham name and money?

No. We have no idea what her trajectory would have been but given her life and stated ambitions prior to her relationship with Bill Clinton, who has also been a bit of an albatross to her career, I think it is actually likely she would have had a successful life in politics.

Please dismiss this troll.

Look, everyone gains connections and assists through the people in their lives. Does anybody think JFK would have become president without Joe Kennedy? No. Does anybody think Reagan would have become president without being a movie star? No. It’s a ridiculous game. She was and is an Ivy League Lawyer who was always

You could say that, and it is a factor, but, then again, you’ve had about 40 or so First Ladies and at least as many President’s daughters who would have had access to the same sort of contacts: none of them rose to such prominence or anything near it.

It’s pretty clear that Hillary was ambitious from the start - even before she met Bill. They’re simply an example of two people taking turns to realize their goals, and supporting each other. It’s Hillary’s turn. If the world had been different in the 80's and 90's, Bill could very well have played the role of the

No, I’m saying that if she had not married Bill Clinton we have no idea what direction her life would have gone in and other women have previously reached all but this last goal so it’s ridiculous to say she never would have become a senator or Sec. of state if she wasn’t a former first lady. She is an Ivy League
