Good and sensible point. There must be a good reason for all the romance novels featuring a spanking before the happy ending.

OK, it’s mostly a fantasy, but it is an interesting fact that nearly all the spankings are delivered by men to the women they love, and that more often than not the women come to love the men even more after the spankings. For me it is just an old-fashioned romantic element, and the women are not seriously hurt. I

It WAS what she needed apparently. She made a lot of noise and fuss while she being spanked, but afterwards the next morning she was a sweet and good-natured teenage girl who could joke about her own spanking. And she was spanked for getting Elvis fired and for being an obnoxious brat who tried to vamp him. A good

According to the movie, yes! The morning after she has been changed from an obnoxious brat into a pretty, well-behaved young woman who seems content with herself and her friends.

You are probably being sarcastic, when you say that a spanking is just what a girl who tried to commit suicide needs. Yes, actually, in Blue Hawaii it was. The spanking had a very good effect, and next morning she was sitting carefully on a pillow being kind and polite to everybody.

Don’t you realize that real men don’t want to unch women. That’s the reason why the men in the film clips spank them. The women have punched or kicked the men - usually in a fit of jealousy, and in return the men spank the women. In most cases the men love the women, and in any case their sense of chivalry would

Nothing to do with infantilizing women. The women slapped or punched the men, and the men did not want to cause serious damage to the women they loved, so the spanked them. After the spankings they got reconciled and often got married.

I’m sure glad that my parents did not censorthe old movies that I saw on television. I saw most of these old Hollywood movies, and I found it totally OK that men spanked the women they loved, when the women had first punched, kicked or fired a gun at them. To me spanking a woman who has slugged you is chivalry - you

Actually, she was the reason why he was sacked from his job, and besides the spanking had a very good effext on her mood - as you can see from her behaviour the morning after.

Methinks, thou art protesting too much. Probably wondering what you have missed out on. :-)

This scene is typical of a lot of the scenes that you women find revolting.

That’s unfair. The spankers in these clips would never hit or bruise a woman in the face. It is part of their code, like it or not, to respond to a punch in the face by spanking the woman who punched - who is generally also the woman they love. :-)

According to Blue Hawaii, Yes! The spankee goes from being an obnoxious, unhappy teenage brat who got Elvis sacked from his job to being a sweet and natural, happy teenager, who enjoys her breakfast with Elvis and the other girls - and can even joke about her spanking. So the spanking works as an antidote to suicide

I agree with Helana, and in the Romance novels, the scenes in these movie clips often are the result of the woman punching the man and getting her bottom spanked in return. Women like to dream about taking charge men, so when they do come up against one - and deserve the spanking - I can’t see why they should

In the clips we see men responding to women’s violence to them by giving them a spanking. Today the violence to women is much worse in the movies and elsewhere - and don’t forget that in all these clips the violence started by the women lashing out on the men.

But, dear Cat, it is the other way around. It is not the women who should respond to violence by hitting or killing the men. In all these scenes - with the possible exception of the Lucy Show - it is the men who respond to female violence (slapping, punching, Kicking, firing guns) by taking them over their knees and

I absolutely agree with you and Fiery Antidote. The movie clips only show men spanking women, but the parts where women slap, punch, kick or fire guns at the men are left out. Having seen most of the films myself, I can honestly say that in almost all the scenes it is males retaliating the violence that the women have
