Actually it was another story that I was thinking of. I have yet to muster the energy to dig up which one it was. Essentially someone is put into a sensory deprivation tank and long story short is able to communicate with the dead among various other otherworldly things.

I took El going into the tank and coming across a guy speaking Russian as a reference to the Russian Sleep Experiment story. Never saw Under The Skin though so maybe I was wrong.
