Although “Beryl” may have been the best episodic showcase for Vanessa Kirby’s Margaret, her subtle shift of expressions as Margaret comes to the realization that the present Tony has given her hides an engagement ring may be Kirby’s best scene of the series. Tommy Lascelles is among my favourite characters in the whole series. As someone who has been around the Royals for 30 years, he knows excatly how to deal with each of them and more or less doesn’t have to worry about being fired.

Another aspect of this episode’s female representation that pissed me off: Anna Chancellor is only 13 years older than Matthew Goode and she’s playing his mother.
