Certainly. Although employers are allowed to not pay for a certain number of “sleep hours” for positions that are 24 hours or more. Less than 24 hours, they have to pay.

Paying even minimum wage for 9 hours (plus paying for after school care so SHE could sleep) was just no where near affordable. Which is why our

I had a friend who basically needed a person in her house so she could work midnights. The person would basically sleep (she left at 10:30 pm), wake up around 6 a.m., make sure the kids ate and got ready to school (she’d be home to drive them to school, the kids were like 7 and 9). And that’d be the end of it.

She was

I did not notice this symbol until a few weeks ago. At my university. Most of the tampon bins where I live don’t have that label.

That organization is so *weird*. It seems to be comprised mostly of disgruntled family members of people who have state appointed guardians.

I have clients with state appointed guardians. The vast majority have been abused, exploited, or abandoned by family members who otherwise would have served as their guardians.

I’m fairly convinced that she is consenting to the conservatorship at this point, unless she is much more ill than she appears to be, which seems unlikely. Bipolar disorder, especially manic episodes, can be really scary, and if it was something I experienced I would definitely want safeguards in place to protect my

If the 2nd amendment guarantees the “right to bear arms”, with absolutely no stipulation, then why aren’t we able to buy nukes? Seriously, if it’s TRULY intended to prevent the government from overstepping it’s power (rather than insure that a militia can be quickly and rapidly deployed in a young nation that doesn’t

There should be more than one person. A consent advocate (who ideally would have training in something like psychology or social work) and someone from the medical field who can ensure physical safety. One person focusing on both issues would definitely be better than nothing, but having both would be ideal.

The majority of the women I know (on an intimate enough basis that they have felt comfortable disclosing) have been sexually or physically abused, either as children or by spouses. It is *really common*.

An RN or paramedic makes sense if you’re looking at preserving bodily safety.

I’m preparing to request a transfer to another department within my agency. This means saying goodbye to the clients I’ve worked with for two years and being (yet another) person who entered their lives and then left. I need to transfer for my mental health, for my career, and just so I can see my family more than one

Then go adopt?

There is also a great deal of ableism on display from Trump, in general. I think it’s unfortunate we don’t discuss that aspect more frequently. In my job I work with people who have actual diagnosed low IQs- or intellectual disabilities. They’re kind and smart and lovely people. Many would be more qualified to hold

I know this isn’t entirely unexpected, but still. How awful for the employees.

I remember riding in the carts when I was 3. They had this little bead toy thing on them that I thought was pretty awesome.

They are, but they aren’t 100% reversible. If you know you want kids eventually, but not now, and have the means you’d want to bank in case it can’t be reversed.

I’m obviously speaking to those who could afford to do it. It’s cheaper than 18 years of child support, or raising an unplanned child.

You don’t necessarily need to spend a lot of money on ART if the sperm count is good and the woman is fertile.

For the same reason women pay large amounts of money to reduce their fertility when they (eventually) want children? To be able to control when and how they procreate?

I sometimes wonder why more males don’t bank their sperm and get a vasectomy. To me, that seems like it should be the across the board recommendation for someone who is male and wants a high degree of control over their fertility.

I suppose this would be the major downside- a technological failure and all of your plans

Now I want to binge watch Alias. Again.

After I watched the trailer I was like “oh I know how this movie goes” and now I feel no need to watch the movie.

This isn’t what MLK was talking about. He was talking about people who were all “yes, this is bad, but you guys are breaking the law so that’s bad too”. That has nothing to do with how many issues are focused on. If anything, the civil rights movement under MLK was incredibly good at narrowing it’s focus in order to
