DHHS runs, essentially, orphanages where unaccompanied minors are held. Those institutions are likely where the kids would end up, at least at first. It’s expensive, to the extreme.

That’s why you wear them with socks. #stylin

I watched that episode of Black Mirror, too.

Immediate family, as far as I’m aware that includes sons and daughters-in-law. The president may designate protection to whomever he or she wishes through executive order, though.

They should have lengthened the exchange (put the coin in, baker acknowledge coin, take bread) and skipped the part where she harasses the child laborers.

Did she just steal that bread?

I love the original, and love Emma Watson, but this looks pretty horrible.

These companies are going to be on the losing side of a lot of lawsuits. If they’ve allowed other employees to take random days off (sportsball, kid’s recital, etc) without recourse, which they almost certainly HAVE, but then when people take the day off for reasons related to ethnicity/national origin they’re

I have an aunt who had an abortion and is anti-choice. She was on a medication that had a low risk of birth defects. She could have stopped it (in her case, totally an option, her condition is in no way life threatening and there are other treatments) or accepted the risk. Instead she decided to abort.

Which is her

I am taking 12 credit hours this semester and working full time. I have to just keep scrolling at this point. Turn off NPR, keep the TV off the news, because otherwise I just can’t.

It is so hard to know what to do at this point because of the lack of data. Certainly some teens need hormones to prevent self harm, but if it can be delayed with puberty blocks, counseling, etc, right now that’s the best choice.

It’s not even that they were mistaken. The feelings they had are real. It’s more that identity is at least somewhat unstable up into early adulthood, and even in adulthood you have a subset of people who change genders repeatedly or are otherwise gender queer but not trans.

Just a small correction... Gender isn’t fixed or solid at that age. There’s a fair amount of research showing that kids who identify as transgender switch gender identity later at a high rate.

PhDs do have the Dr title. Rightfully so. If they work *in a hospital or medical setting* they shouldn’t use the title, for obvious reasons, but otherwise? They’re Dr.

You want to get pissed about people using the Dr. title unfairly, then let’s talk about the idiots with “honorary degrees” that go by Dr. Not people

CEOs are important. Maybe 5-10 times the salary of the average employee important. Definitely not million dollar income important, though.

Last year I saw two movies at the theater- Finding Dory and The Force Awakens. I only go to the movies with kids, and I only take them to see movies that are both at their interest level AND seem halfway decent. I don’t even remember the last time I saw an “adult” oriented film in the theater...

I want to see several

I wish it was just anger and disgust. I can handle that. I can turn it off.

The fear? I can’t turn off the fear.

The CHARGE study is a fishing expedition, so a lot of the correlations it’s finding are just random correlations you always find in the data.

It’s sort of like if you collect a bunch of data about cancer, you’ll eventually find a correlation between one type of cancer and having once visited the Statue of Liberty.

In twin and family studies there is a very strong hereditary link.. The type of link you only find if there is a genetic basis.

Autism is diagnosed more now. I work with developmentally disabled adults, most in their 40s-70s. Very few are diagnosed with autism. Actually, of the about 36 ladies I regularly work

Titer testing is usually not covered unless there is a medically valid reason (such as pregnancy) to do it. My mom actually had all of her vaccines, twice, because it was cheaper than a titer test (her childhood doctor lost her vaccine records).
