This is, functionally, how enforcement is in other countries. In theory all rape is illegal in the U.S., but unless you can prove force through something like physical injuries, good luck getting it prosecuted. Someone sexually assaulted or harassed you in public? Hope it was on camera... otherwise, you’re probably

Like, we’re probably going to have to go back to Lincoln, but once upon a time...

It doesn’t sound like allergies. It’s probably a cold, but if you spike a fever (about 102 or higher) it might be worth getting tamiflu.

I’m completely fine with a suspension because, seriously, not appropriate and old enough to know better. Criminal charges? The adults need to go to the corner and think about their choices.

Of major crimes I could see myself committing, being a drug mule in exchange for an outrageous amount is probably the most likely.

I would say most private schools do not pay well. I mean, I know people who have taught at very “elite” private schools and left due to the poor pay and benefits. At least if you work in public schools you usually have the benefit of a union.

Private schools can often have “teachers” that aren’t even licensed as such.

This is true. I think teachers are a good reference point, since every community needs them, but the same could be said about retail workers, healthcare workers, firemen, etc. It’s even worse if you look at teacher’s aids, bus drivers, kitchen workers, secretaries, etc. All these people are necessary to run a school

I had a person give me shit about taking an 8 year old *in a wheelchair* into the women’s bathroom. “Shouldn’t you be using the little boy’s room”? Well, he would be if he could STAND.

I just can’t with people anymore. Seriously, someone says something, just flip them off. Any other response just isn’t worth it.

The republicans don’t give a shit about fiscal responsibility, privacy, or local control of government. If they did, they wouldn’t do ridiculous stunts like this.

The resulting lawsuits are likely to cost a lot of money, and they are likely to lose. They are literally taking away control from city, county, and

Getting sole custody means summoning him to court. Which means interacting with him, and possibly having him want visitation (which he would certainly get).

Simply for their mental health, him staying out of the picture is the best thing at this point. You don’t poke sleeping bears and such.

She has a will, and a lawyer has been talked to. The only additional step she can take is to get full physical and legal custody, but that’s a bit of a pain, and she hasn’t needed that yet, so she hasn’t. She probably will have to do it in the next few years because they may want to get a passport, etc, to take trips

It was almost certainly murder-suicide, which has been apparent since shortly after the crash. The specific series of events do not make much sense otherwise.

It’s incredibly tragic, especially for the families. I suspect it was planned the way it was in order for there to be as little evidence as possible.

This isn’t true. Most states will preserve parental rights whereever possible. California DOES allow termination, but it is a long drawn out court process. Many states simply don’t allow termination.

I mean, my brothers’ father hasn’t seen them since... 2007. AKA basically their entire lives. There is absolutely no way

Portland isn’t cheap, either...

If there is an income differential, the higher income parent can be ordered to pay the lower income parent child support in a 50:50 set up.

“bipolar disorder and schizophrenia”- this is actually called schizoaffective disorder.

We need to get rid of the death penalty. Not that some people don’t deserve it, but seriously, just the bureaucratic mess as well as the fact we can’t guarantee the person isn’t impaired or outright innocent means that it can never

I’m sorry you can’t do what you want to do. Really. And there are definitely some quite draconian things about child support.

My brothers’ father hasn’t seen them since 2007. He tells people how they’re great kids. He couldn’t pick them up out of a photo line up.

He did finally qualify for social security, so they finally are getting financial support which has made their lives MUCH better (suddenly there is money for karate, soccer,

Yep.

You know, if they had charged her with “resisting arrest”, I might believe it’s bullshit. Slapping a horse? That’s not something they make up on the spot.
