I spent a significant amount of time at a very large children’s hospital last year, and there weren’t metal detectors. I think I’ve been to one hospital that had them, but they’re uncommon (these situations are, fortunately, uncommon)

Thank you for articulating this so well.
Or ignoring the fact her son existed, at all.
Thank you.
I’m not. Raising a typical child can be hard. Raising four children can be hard. Raising any child in poverty can be hard.
MRAs routinely link to xojane and talk about listening to disabled people. Yep yep.
Go read the replies on the post about the father who threw his (apparently able bodied) child off the top of seat building, and then himself. You won’t find any sympathetic, “poor him”, there. Yet on this post, and other posts about disabled children and adults being murdered, you’ll find sympathy.
Ever talk to a person with a disability about these murders? Or, at least, read a blog by a person with a disability about these murders?
Can we cut the sympathy “poor mom of a disabled kid” bullshit? I’m already seeing it in the comments. Killing your child is not okay. This mother is no more sympathetic than a mother (or father!) who kills her able bodied child because of stress or whatever other reason.
Generally it’s accepted (ethically and often legally) that teens can consent to sexual activity with similar aged peers. Just not with adults or with much older teens (ie 13 and 17 year olds).
We had a handful of kids arrested for sexting where I live, the police were all “these kids are ruining their lives” while talking about charging them as sex offenders because they exploited themselves...
This was almost 30 years ago and I can guarantee you, not all parishes baptized all babies. My parents were refused by three different ones, including the one my father had attended his entire life. Even now a priest can choose not to baptize a child (they can refuse to baptize a child if they feel that child may not…
It was... rural. And 1986. So, yeah. They denied baptism to my cousin under almost identical circumstances a few years later (but then baptized her at 5, my 9/10 year old self refused when it was given as an option)
I suspect we are going to learn there were layers of corruption throughout that department.
You want to know why I’m not Catholic? They refused to baptize me because my parents were unwed and “living in sin”.
Her motivation was definitely beyond money. Sadistic sociopathy, I’d imagine.
Am I the only person who is continuously disappointed by girl scout cookies? I tried a variety last year and they were all meh. I like the coconut chocolate shortbread ones (coconut dreams?), but I can buy nearly identical cookies at Aldi for less than $2.
And in doing things like this they actually put prison guards more at risk.
Our prison system is icky. There are fairly easy things we could do to improve it, but it would require investment.
She’s a psychopath. I doubt she’s schizophrenic- true psychopaths are very good at taking.
