The Olympics are for international athletes to compete. Your story (or at least the first 15 paragraphs of it) seem to fail to understand or recognize the value and core of the exercise (as has the Olympic committee clearly.) You fail to distinguish.

I would describe the ending like phantom limb syndrome.
There is a phenomenon whereby some people who have lost limbs can still feel that the limb is clinched but if they look in a mirror (and the remaining limb) and open and close that hand or relax the foot, the brain relaxes the lost limb.
