Really had a hard time with that final planet/base. The Resistance is fleeing to the only planet in range and somehow feels that they will be safe and/or hidden there? So the New Order can’t just park their capital ships above the planet and either nuke it from orbit or interdict the planet?

Those were all Gungans and in the extended Blue Ray version they’re all gonna have voices and throughout the whole fight they’re gonna be saying shit like “Oopsie me have a stabby” really loudly

Yup, I expected Poe to throw a fit when they finally told him the plan but he was just like “Aww shit, good idea” rather than “why the fuck you not tell me that before? I sent Finn and Rose on a crazy dangerous mission cuz I thought we were fucked!”

Exactly, but ask career military folks about it. They wouldn’t bat an eye. Still, it very well fits the underpinned theme of everyone failing in some way despite the good intentions behind their actions.

And why the hell would you send *ALL YOUR BOMBERS* on a physics breaking but also stupid bombing run in which they are in domino-formation, close enough that a should-have-been-forseeable design flaw leads to all of them exploding? WTF?

Like, why didn’t the fleet split up when they realized that they were being tracked instead of marching steadfastly to annihilation? There was so much stupid in the command decisions on all sides in this movie.

I still wonder why they didn’t all pile into shuttles and go to Canto Bite, since that seems like a thing that was evidently possible? Leave some Droids to work the ship and jump to light speed and jump through a star, see if you can get the first order to follow you. After all...if the first order “has them on a

One thing about your comparison to the Hoth evacuation and the Capital ship one. One was in full view of the Empire and needed coordination with the escort ships, the ion cannon, and shield operators. This is just get on the ship and sit there while we sneak out.

I do agree it was still a pretty weak decision overall,

Eh, it was a two-person backfire.

If you know she had told Poe what the plan was and then you know executed it properly they would have pulled that shit off.

TBQH, her entire plan relied entirely on the First Order being so incredibly inept at military practice that they can’t be a believable threat to anything to work in the first place.

She was an asshole too.

I will miss the extremely convoluted theories that were necessary to make Rey anybody’s kid, because there are only like 4 people in the entire Star Wars universe and none of them made a lick of sense.

IIRC, in the original Starwars Battlefront 2, for the PS2, there was a space mission where you had to blow up the enemies main ship before it went to hyper space aimed at your main ship... This idea has been around for a hot minute in the Starwars universe

Poe: What are you doing, Maz?

Which established characterization was contradicted though?

The moment Admiral Holdo turn the ship around and cut Snoke’s cruiser in two with a hyperdrive jump is where the movie jumped the shark. What, nobody thought about doing that in the first place? Dude, that could have saved a hell of a time and potentially winning the war if they get lucky enough to kill every First

The plotting itself in Act 2 was pointless. What Rian Johnson was trying to do (I’m not sure I totally agree with his decisions) was take the usual harebrained Star Wars convoluted Hail Mary hero plan and make it fail. And fail spectacularly.
