Oh go away
Oh go away
It’s hard for me to trust the whole ITS BECAUSE OF THE STORY bit when you can unlock costumes for her that cover her body up. They’re nice costumes, too. They also make it clear that her looks are actually fan-service, and that fan-service trumps always whatever story reasons she has for dressing in such a revealing…
I mean, I’ll agree inasmuch as the “REAL REASON” she’s dressed the way she is is Metal Gear Solid as fuck. But Metal Gear Solid is ridiculous, sooooo.
Yes, exactly. Quiet’s outfit is just as ridiculous and super-sexualized as like 99% of the lady champions in League of Legends (the main game I play obsessively these days). The main difference I see between Quiet and someone like Miss Fortune is that Riot doesn’t try to hide its reason for wanting to make a sexy…
What’s truly terrible is how Quiet is such a tragic and well written character, yet blatantly sexually exploited. I’m used to Kojima sexualizing characters, but there usually seemed like a purpose.
Weird thing is, Miller/Ocelot (I can’t remember who) has a tape explaining this, and mentions the photosynthesis being something they saw in an old GRU solider.
It wouldn’t be MGS if it didn’t have an eye-roll worthy explanation.
Oh, grow up. She’s in torn stockings and a bikini top and does stretches to shamelessly show off her cleavage and rear to the camera, whose outfit is ‘justified’ by technobabble, even though a tank top and shorts would give serve the same in-story role, but without the shameless fanservice.
I didn’t even care before I read this article, but reading the reason has removed most of the respect I may have otherwise had for Kojima.
It went like this: Kojima wanted a female character who was built up entirely around fanservice. So he designed a sexy near-naked chick. After that, he added some random excuses for a plot around her sexiness.
I wish Kojima just said “because I want to dress her that way.” It seems like a more honest and less eye-roll worthy reason.
The reason Quiet wears that bikini outfit is that she breathes through her skin, using photosynthesis to absorb air, water, and nutrients. She has to do this because her body is infested with parasites.
Not at all. Because at the end of the day, Kojima wanted her to be naked. He wanted her to be exposed and just because he came up with a contrived “reason” for her to be so exposed doesn’t change his motivation at all. I’m feeling fine about my words and deeds. How’s Kojima feeling about his?
