They are good looking cars. The front end has a “piccolo bit of a Bizzarrini feel to it:

It looks like the love child resulting from an orgy beyween a 240z, ferrari Dino and a 60's mustang. And that’s a really good thing.

From what I remember of the jargon of the period, that’s correct. It’s supposed to prove that the engine is ‘tractable’: you can drive the car in traffic, not just on the track.

Yes, I remember that. But I also remember GM talking about it at one point as well, complimenting the range and power of the engine. It may have been in my own dealings with them, but I want to say they were pretty pleased with themselves about it.

On Top Gear they accelerated a C6 Z06 from 0 to the rev limiter in 5th gear

Yes, that was basically it, especially in the days before synchromesh. Which was long before AC’s time but the memory continued.

At one time being able to drive in (and presumably accelerate from) a low speed in top gear was really a thing. It both showed good flexibility and that you wouldn’t have to use what was often a tricky gearbox too often.

I remember a similar claim by Chevy that the Corvette could do 15-185 MPH in the same gear or something.

Thanks, Erin!  This is something else.

Congrats $kaycog! A comment section hero is something to be.

Thanks for that!

As soon as I read the headline I knew. Congrats and thanks for all the great comments, I always enjoy reading your comments.

$kaycog is a national treasure who truly deserves this.

I’m speechless, but with 36,895 comments, I haven’t always been speechless.  This post is the best prize ever!  Thanks so much, Andrew!

Allow me to grossly simplify the sedan culling that everyone appears to have subjective feelings about.

Ford will see last minute that this Is dumb but will not admit it. They’ll kill off the Fusion and bring something they sell overseas and call it something else. Probably bringing an old nameplate back from the dead or it’s gonna be called the Mustang S or the S-150.

well, track days, tight parking spots, crowded cities, and covering your load.

The problem is, if you can accept the relatively poor fuel economy and the large vehicle size, the F150 is probably the best “do it all” vehicle.

Or just maybe your truck is the true Grail. You sir are the bravest and most worthy; whilst Mr. Tracy is easily distracted by shiny manual uni-bodys. He chose poorlyHold on to that truck until someone vanquishes you in single combat.
