I completely missed this, but this is absolute gold.

Presumably, they’ve either seen or ridden in one of these things.
Didn’t this era include the mile-long serpentine timing belt, that had a tendancy to break and trash your engine so you cashed out? Isn’t this the reason you don’t see too many of them around?
Roll up and pop up? I can’t think of a good reason for a pop-up bed cover...
These things were apparently exceedingly costly to insurance companies at one point. Wikipedia has some interesting details on it, but the short-short is they’re death traps.
Are you getting a commission? I mean, it’s cool, and I get the connection to your hatred for your grandpa’s tonneau, but this reads very much like “sponsored content”.
I dated a ballin’-ass rich girl in college. One time we were at a restaurant, she pointed to a Bronco II and said “that’s how my dad made his money.” He was the plaintiff’s lawyer on some of the wrongful death suits against Ford on the rollover issue. Also one of the guys who sued 3-wheelers out of existence. Not a…
I think the designer of the Lincoln Blackwood just committed seppuku. If he had only thought of a design like this, his creation might not have been an automotive industry footnote.
It needs to be said - these were not great cars. Prone to rollover and rust. My husband had an ‘85 Bronco II. It liked to overheat. After the second time it caught fire, he decided to walk away from it. There’s some nostalgia for these things nowadays but they suck.
When my parents moved to Vermont before I came around, my mom traded her Mercury Lynx in on a similar Bronco II. Hers was a manual V6 as well but it was green and she adored the thing. She claims it would pull through any amount of snow. She loved the rough ride. Now at nearly 60 years old, she loves to drive my…
Grave Robber is just screwing with us with these extreme CPs and NPs, no?
I stand by my words because it also implies the trucks of today are too damn soft. The 6x6 deuce was the original SUV. Light on the sport, but damn heavy on the utility.
Floor buffers?
That youtube commenter is full of shit. The only thing I ever drove at boot camp was a floor buffer.
I just sold my M923A2, or I’d compete. I have to say, the suspension on those military trucks is not forgiving...at all...and the seats suck. That dude probably needs a kidney transplant. I ended up putting in air suspension seats in my truck to make mine more livable.
Watching that gave my sympathy bruises.
i will put in on this so long as i can drive one of the rigs
I bet he dropped a Deuce-and-a-Half when it started bouncing him all over the cabin.
So who wants to help me fund a 5 ton offroad racing series?
