I am 25. When I left my parents' house at 18, I had a cell phone. I have moved around a lot since then, and have never felt the need to get a landline phone. Maybe when I settle into a stable life and have kids it will be good to have a "house phone" but for now I see no reason.
I do the same thing. The funny part is, I feel like I still compare things against video games even though I don't play many video games any more... I suppose they are just a good metric of value.
That was my first thought too. Don't forget knishes.
Good link. It is definitely a tough job.
Are these losses on top of the ones from the very leaky aqueduct? In theory, that repair will greatly increase the efficiency of water delivery in New York.
Kind of, though NYC does some of the least treatment of any major metropolitan area. It is true about the infrastructure wear, however. And, even though droughts are rare in NY, it can happen. It is good to be prepared with an efficient and maintained water system.
If I wanted to add something to make that work, my first thought would be wings.
I just got a new job where I have 3 monitors at 1440x900. I need to do some searching for an appropriate wallpaper for that.
Yeah, I don't remember where I learned that, but it was about the time ctrl+alt+del stopped going directly to task manager. I picked it up pretty quick at the time, because it definitely is useful to cut out a step when trying to deal with unresponsive software.
It is amazing how many people don't know this, it should be better documented. I have been using it for years, it really is a better way.
I'm with those that think normal smartphone use precludes leaving fingerprints. Once I unlock my phone, I spend time smudging and smearing the screen all over the place.
I am glad I am not the only one to consider the "bandwidth" of a 747. Global shipping services are truly amazing when you really get down to thinking about it.
I had my original MX518 for a long time. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I would be happy to get a new one. It was pretty much mouse perfection, I think I lost mine in one of my several recent moves.
I was going to be done commenting on this thread, but I agree with you too much to let it be. That was one thing I really respected about the Sony Vaio P. If it were not so expensive I would have gotten one.
Yeah, I won't lie, I am pretty happy with my spacious, multitouch trackpad. When I compare the Trackpoint to the vast majority of trackpads out there, I firmly take the Trackpoint. Also, if I were still typing as much as I used to I would probably prefer to have a Trackpoint today.
I use a Macbook now, but if there is one thing I miss about my ThinkPad it is the Trackpoint. I would still say it is capable of competing against all other navigation technologies. The only sad part is that they rarely sell new computers with just a Trackpoint (I actually had the touchpad on my old ThinkPad turned…
That was my first thought to check too. I still think they are a bunch of jerks, but at least I seem to be safe from them.
A burst like that hit the Long Island Sound once. It destroyed a bunch of small boats. My uncle was out alone on his boat. He got the jib down fast enough, but the high wind hit while he was trying to get the mainsail down. It broke his mast (a giant wooden one, probably around 50 ft tall).
