Who said the original intention was to put it on the internet? Maybe it just ended up that way. I often take videos on my phone because I plan on showing someone else the video from my phone (or I send it to them). Maybe after they took the video, they decided to put it on the internet.
Seems to me that the image is frames properly for the content of the video. They are video taping a girl doing something to a tree. Most of the subject is vertical, so to me, it makes sense to get as much of that in the frame as possible. If the video were in landscape, you would have a bunch of extra information to…
