It’s funny you bring that up as I literally posted in here a few hours ago about how mad I was about the Watcher’s that I might just give up then I went online and saw there are two other areas available to me in the game I haven’t found yet.  Though I will admit that sometimes the game can screw you over.  I spent

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the absolute peak of world design and attention to detail in a game and then the absolute nadir of mission design. Still, I would play 100 stupid missions in a row if I get more of Arthur Morgan’s world weary headshaking and “what have we got ourselves into now” attitude. Love that dude.

goddammit... I was.  d’oh.

That was very rude of you to raise my hopes that they’d officially titled that game “Metal Goose Solid”. Did they get new voice actors for the RE2 Remake or are they keeping the classics?

Y’know it was on the top of all those best of lists despite looking like “super meat boy but with empathy this time”.  Good to hear a more measured take on it.

Let’s talk about giving up on things! In a really round about way.

I caught a few runs this year and am currently watching the Morrowind Speedrun. AGDQ is always good background watching and always interesting to see how they break stuff.

Like any variety series Black Mirror is hit or miss (the what if a virtual bear became supreme world leader stands out as their most embarassingly bad one though others are cringe inducing too) still the highs like San Junipero and the not really thought provoking but still fun USS Calister make it a fun torch bearer

I always had War of Mine loaded on my steam account but could never pull the trigger and jump in for fear it was just going to be too depressing.  Reading your account of what happened makes me feel like I was right in that it’d be a downer but that I should’ve gone through and experienced it anyway.

I have a few issues with Hollow knight (basically your same issue; they put a lot of bosses frustratingly far from benches) but if anything it deserves accolades for getting so much mileage out of bugs since those tiny things are usually used for simple gross-outs in games. There are cute bugs, sad bugs, aloof bugs,

Well fittingly enough I’ve been playing Hollow Knight for the second week. I’m about 8 hours in and I’m enjoying it though I’m not *loving* it. There are no huge glaring flaws just the fact that I don’t care for backtracking in this world like I did in it’s sister series the Souls games.

Firewatch hinges on whether or not you appreciate their bait-and-switch or whether you thought it was cheap. I ebb and flow but generally give them the benefit of the doubt (though there is something to the argument that the game is sold as a mystery when it turns out in the end the mystery was inside us the whole

Over break I started and most likely have played as much as I’m going to play of Dragon Quest 7. Feel free to put me down into the innumerable Westerners who just don’t get it. The story is sub-children’s book and the combat is generic JRPG combat with an appreciated auto-pilot mode. Akira Toriyama’s character art is

I have some damning issues with the story of Red Dead 2 that also basically come around to how it feels cheapened by being Game-ified. (SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY TOO) From a dramatic point of view it 100% makes sense for Arthur to be the one who kills Micah but because Rockstar games have to have an endgame and have to have

That is such an amazing write-up on why Resident Evil 6 is such a goddam mess when the idea of transplanting three seperate stories with gameplay from 4&5 into each should’ve worked gangbusters! It just feels so rushed to match a story that I assume only makes sense if you watched that terrible straight to DVD

I’m done with Red Dead now I think. Didn’t finish the epilogue but did YouTube the final ending because I’m lazy. It’s a good game. I’d buy it again if a cowpoke stole it from me at gun point. Now I’m doing the usual thing where I waste all my free time debating what game to play next from my backlog or what game to

Yeah dude you are the only one.  That twist ruled.

He always sneaks in moments like that and I still wasn’t ready for it holy shit.

Come for the end of year list.

7 is actually probably my least favorite Beach House record but to each their own.  No Sad Boy Father John Misty for us Sad Boys™?  Shame as that album was so much better than the bombast of Pure Comedy.
