I had a similar thought. I saw plenty of memes comparing mandatory mask wearing to the mandatory wearing of seatbelts. I wonder if rather than convincing ppl to wear masks it instead persuaded them not to wear seatbelts.
That’s exactly the same gauge cluster we had in our ‘87 and ‘88s except the speedo went to 150 and the boost gauge didn’t have red and green in it, all amber.
What year was your Starion? We had 2 ‘87 and 1 ‘88 Conquests and they all went up to 150mph.
Did this law change after ‘84 or did it not apply to imports? I remember my mom’s 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSi having a 150mph speedometer. I remember because being a kid at the time I thought obviously that was the car’s top speed.

Not really. It looks like the Corolla Cross is 3" longer than the 2021 Corolla hatchback but same wheelbase and width. And it’s taller, obviously.
