So, I’m a month late with this comment, but I highly recommend the “Who Was” series for more in-depth biographies. My girls (ages 7 and 10) barely read the Rebel Girls and other anthologies, but they’ll read the”Who Was” books without prompting from me. It’s still sanitized for kids, but we’ve had lots of discussions

I’ve thought from the beginning that McConnell is mixed up in it. I also think Ryan knew about it, but I’m not sure he was directly involved.

“making abortion illegal doesn’t mean it will end”

I already had kids when I got my tubal so my hoops were fewer, but I remember my doctor leaving the room during our discussion to make sure my insurance wasn't one that requires the paperwork be signed a month in advance.

My husband and I are exploring our (his) citizenship options in Japan and Brazil. Ideally, his aunt or cousin could get us into Canada, though - only a 3 hour drive. I've got a million worst case scenarios in my head and I want the option to get my daughters out.

Me too. Unhappy and helpless and hopeless and scared.

I think I might hate McConnell more than I hate Trump.

that’s not enough. Not any more. Trump’s going to continue issuing executive orders like he’s God, and each one that goes unchecked by Congress and is affirmed by his stacked supreme Court will give him that much more power and motivation to take it further next time until he’s the only one making any decisions.

Whatever checks and balances are still standing will be chipped away (faster than I thought possible) until we have King trump and my part-minority family will have to find a new place to leave.

Cottage cheese with jam is my go-to. It’s good with fruit, too, but there’s just something so easy about grabbing a jar of jam from the fridge. (I also make my own jam, so that may be a factor.)

Cottage cheese with homemade jam is my staple breakfast. Easy, high protein, perfect.

Honestly, it’s the end of the US. How things pan out is still up in the air, but we will never be a United land of the free again. I predict secession of various states followed by wars. Personally, I’d like to see us go full on States Rights (no more liberal elite taxes subsidizing backward red states), then form

I’m ready to secede. Go Cascadia. I moved out of a red state in an effort to raise my daughters with equality and choices and freedom, but these evil, narrow minded, backward assholes have their hooks in so deep at the federal level that living in so-called blue country may not be enough.

I can’t decide whether to give you a star or cry in a corner. I’ll just drink my margarita for now.

I’m currently just south of Seattle and recently discussed moving to the Vancouver metro area with my husband - I want my preferred weather AND sane politicians. It’s not too much to ask for, is it?

Because the WA state constitution explicitly prohibits any kind of income tax.

We’ve got ours set to Computer. Yes, she ends up waking up a lot, saying “I’m sorry. I don’t know the answer to that.” But it’s totally worth it to say, “Computer, weather report”as if we’re Captain Picard.

We just moved and registered kids in a new district. There were 21 pages of forms and questions, not one of which was about citizenship. I did have to provide proof of residency (utility bill) and birth certificates (proof of age, I think).

Buying fucking Sudafed seems to require more checks than buying a gun in some states.

I find it incredibly depressing that there are so many different groups who hate women. My poor daughters.
