I’m in the same boat with my family. I even canceled our summer trip to visit (my parents and 3 siblings live in a region ~700 miles away) so I wouldn’t be accidentally exposed to their votes. My kids miss their cousins, but I’m not disowning my sisters, so I guess an acceptable trade-off?

I’ve been considering taking my down payment and investing in Tacoma real estate while continuing to rent in Seattle. I think eventually this would allow me to buy in Seattle.

I love white center. If I could move closer to their business district without sending my kids to highline schools, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

My husband keeps trying to get me to look at Burien (they have a super cute downtown!), but I won’t consider it because of the schools. And I’m not someone who is particularly snobby about schools! I just think for our price range, Tacoma schools are better, but the commute sucks. Still hoping for a private sale or…

Don’t be intimidated by cost of living. Salaries make up for it. Also, no (or little) snow makes it all worth it for me.
