Color combination override is still a $590 option on the Corvette build sheet.

Mexican flag option?

When I sold Buicks in the late 90's this option still existed, it was called “incompatible color and trim override” we never ordered any, but I shuddered at what could be done.....

One way I wish the car companies would do thinks like the Harley world is individually selectable options. I remember in one of the old Mopar mags (can’t remember which one) there was a story about a guy who restored his ‘70 something Road Runner (or GTX. this was back in the ‘90s, sue me.) The car as ordered was

Yeah because these are exactly the same too.

Came here for the squished bug, and left satisfied.

Believe it or not, this is a 2014 model year...

Nope. That has changed way to vastly since its origin. Harley would be somewhere around here:

You mean like this?

Right, that’s what I was saying! There’s no way you COULDN’T hear that ping if you were only 20-30 yards away.

My grandfather was stationed in the pacific. Since I was not there I can not say what the conditions of the environment were, but he said the fighting was quite close quarters, being on islands, and that the Japanese were masters of hiding the brush until you were nice and close, waiting for a good moment to ambush

It’s funny, I’ve heard the same thing from other people, but then there are others who say it’s baloney, since at distance and over the sound of combat the enemy wouldn’t have been able to hear it.

I’ve shot one of these a number of times with my dad and, dang, think about hauling one of these fuckers around through mud and shit. They’re heavy as hell and they kick like a mule. Even after firing a couple of rounds, your shoulder is sore and bruised and your arms are tired.

Came here to say something similar about the dummy clips. I’ve heard stories of people who would “ping” them against helmets or walls and then play whack-a-mole with the Germans who popped out thinking they were reloading.

Huh. That's a pretty neat fact, actually.

My grandfather was a marine during WW2, and till the day he died he had nothing but praise for the M1 Garand, and he would talk about how it saved his life thanks to how reliable it was.

However, he said the ping was a huge downside. The enemy figured out the sound meant you had used your last bullet, so it could be a

He endured 600 shots of zinc DPTA, a drug that binds to radioactive metals.

In that case its not the war that seems pointless to me but the loss of human life. The average German solider wouldn't have conceived a plan to exterminate entire nationalities by himself, but he was manipulated into killing and dying for that cause.

Whenever I read a story like this, I'm always saddened by the pointlessness of war and the loss of human life. These stories demonstrate that we are capable of behaving humanely to each other, yet it only seems to happen briefly.
