This is correct. Also consider that with a fifth wheel, the load is directly over the rear axle, which leads to a much easier time of exceeding the GAWR of the rear axle itself.
You can tow anything at slow speeds. Especially when not putting a vertical load on the vehicle.
Somewhat practical? Yeah. It is somewhat practical... And it’s a great bargain and starting platform for a trail truck. Sad that Toyota stopped selling the FJ Cruiser, but I guess the sales didn’t really justify it (and while Toyota has a ton of heritage with the Land Cruiser, it doesn’t have the instant recognition…

It’s not just the total weight, but also where that weight is. My Audi + 18 foot trailer is about 6000 pounds, but a good chunk of that (read: the engine) is at the front of the trailer.
