Really? I just rewatched the whole series and think it stands up really well. I'd put it ahead of the Wire in that respect, though I'm sure if I ever re-watch the latter I'll revise my opinion.

I find that in both the book and the TV series the character bits and all the scheming that goes with them are the most fun parts.
