As the receiver, any way to block this?
Article on Air Canada was published in 2012, British Airways 2014...that’s not terribly useful.

Sorry, but if my seat is equipped to recline, I will recline. I am always respectful of the person behind me by reclining slowly, but rest assured that I WILL recline. If airlines don’t want people reclining, then don’t put in reclining seats. If passengers don’t want people reclining, tough. If my seat reclines, I…
Oh? someone sitting with their face pressed to your chair or in your reclining space behind you? That’s too bad for them as you paid for that space.
Im 6ft 5 and have never had crushed knees on a flight due to people reclining.
is false. You pay for the seat, you pay for the ability to recline, if said seat reclines. Tough shit for anyone who doesn’t want to recline, as they have the right to recline and its their problem if they choose not to.
I will already be in some amount of back pain from my back issues and I will be the bigger person to talk to you instead of passive aggressively, purposefully hurting a person.
On a transatlantic flight, the person ahead of me put their seat back. I’m over 6' so I planned to do that to mine to and gave the guy behind me a quick “watch your knees” as I noticed he had already reclined his. I felt my seat stick as I tried to recline. Then I saw the knee defenders. I let him know something was…
Still better than my back issues forcing me to take strong pain killers I rather not be on.
Still better than my back murdering me during the flight. Some folks actually have issues with parts of their bodies that makes them recline their seats and bother one other person for a few hours a year. I hope we meet someday so you too can enjoy my back pain!
Seriously, I don’t get all the hate on reclining seats... The people who think their computing comfort is more important than the seating comfort the person in front of them are a special flavor of entitled. These people claiming crushed knees must either be giants or are exaggerating - I’m over 6'2" myself, and get…
If someone sitting behind me used that without explaining to me why they would want me to keep my seat up, I would be doing all I could to make their life unpleasant during the flight (like demanding why they are being such a prick, alerting flight attendants to have the sh*tty things removed, etc.).
If the tall person insists that I not recline my seat then yes, he has encroached on my space that I paid for. If his legs are so long that his knees hit the seat in front of him he should fly on the airlines with longer seat pitch or those that have things like Economy Plus with more legroom. Barring that I guess he…
Again, their problem, not mine. Just like reclining my seat. If it’s a problem, they should ask and I won’t recline but people shouldn’t across the board be prevented from doing it just because a high-and-mighty long-legger MIGHT just happen to sit behind them. Everyone should adjust their behavior because it’s too…
If that happens, kindly ask them to not recline or if you or they could switch seats so they’re not in front of you. Everyone shouldn’t be denied reclining their seats because some people may be seated in front of someone with long legs.
In what world should everyone be denied something they’re perfectly allowed to do just because you don’t care to ask them not to because it makes you uncomfortable? As I said in the other post, how about we have an unwritten law that all armrests on a plane have to always be vertical because they may inconvenience…
Seat reclining ftw. Want more space? Recline yours. It should be done slowly though as to not throw something off the table behind you or hit the person if they’re leaning forward. Slow enough and they may not even notice it until you’re already reclined.
