I am so sad about this. I love this show. It’s one of the few shows that really presented women’s and minority issues with genuine heart. They never gave it a chance. #saveLarry
I know. I see a lot of people complaining that he had too many “correspondents”. But while Larry was a stable base, the people he brought on were interesting and always had an interesting or at least funny things to say about the topic at hand (except for Ricky Velez. I never took a shine to him). I legitimately got…
I’m upset about this. Larry Wilmore’s show was very uneven, but that’s part of what made it so interesting. When he was on he was on fire. And, unlike a lot of other popular late-night hosts, he had plenty of women writers and on-air personalities, including the the hilarious Holly Walker and the insightful Franchesca…
I watched the episode from the day of, in which he asks, “How was your day?” It honestly hit me pretty hard. It was a spectacular episode too. Both Larry Wilmore and the show’s writers have a lot of grace.
Instead of sliding into that girl’s DMs or sending that late-night sext, consider reaching out to the woman who loves you unconditionally and who would never remind you of your needy dick: your mom.
It’s okay, buddy, we know men don’t understand humor and are bad at comedy. Go watch some porn.
I’m disappointed, but not surprised. Wilmore is obviously a strong writer with great ideas, but I personally didn’t think his on-screen presence was very compelling.
The worst is that he feels like he’s being edgy about it. Like he’s discovered a higher level of irony and awareness than progressives operate on.
Plus, a few years back he was caping for this mayo drag queen who did blackface and called herself Shirley Q. Liquor. The way Ru stood up for her showed me that he severely internalized the way America mocks black women.
There was literally a whole season of dick jokes.
One of the vidders (Luminosity) is an occasional Jez commenter.
At some point in season 3 or 4 Dean used “gay” as an insult, everyone freaked out, the writers and Jensen Ackles apologized, and the show never did it again. They continued using “girl” as an insult five or six times an episode, however, because there may be nothing wrong with being gay, but being female is the…
I stopped watching before Charlie’s introduction. I’d watch some of her episodes but, knowing that they fucking kill her off too (!!!!!!) is enough to stop me from diving back in.
Ugh. I was mad about that but Im only because I loved the characters (Charlie too.) But I just realising that the show is actually more sexist than most.
Yeah, I liked the show but completely gave up after they wrote Jo and Ellen out. And then I watched the episode where they killed them both and destroyed the Roadhouse for like, no real reason. Bummed me out.
Let’s not veer into the horrors that actual women have had to and still are going through and stick to the fictional ones.
I thought it was funny. However...
