@Cyndi Gill: I am a big fan, too. He is doing podcasts for TalkSport now, with Matt and Mr. Gee (and Noel, when he was in Manchester, natch). They're sloppily edited but it's early days yet. They've only done three of twenty (five counting the "bonus material"). We haven't yet reached the level of genius that was

@tiredfairy: It was truly awful. My wife loves the show, but even she found that storyline indefensible. The one good thing that came out of our mutual rage was that it led to me explaining to her about the concept of "enthusiastic consent". I had a pinko feminist upbringing and she didn't, so we have these talks

@Shaukom: As has been pointed out above, topical anaesthetic has nothing to do with ingesting opioids. They work by two completely different mechanisms. Someone mentioned that Charlotte is allergic to lidocaine, but -caine drugs are not the only ones used as topical anaesthetics.

@foreveroutofline: On top of that, there are alternatives to -caine drugs which can be used for topical anaesthesia, like ethyl chloride spray. That was a drama-grab.

@nouveaunegro: Is it ok if I quote you on my blog? You said everything I wanted to.

@SparklyTempest: Of course. I think the point is that anyone who claims to know "The Ultimate Truth" about the spiritual world/absence thereof is utterly insufferable.

@SparklyTempest: That's the usual Dawkins/Hitchenite evangelical line, yes. tasty, huh?

@conokie: I do admire your politeness. Stories like this make me lose my cool.

@conokie: "a tricky path"? That makes it sound like they didn't bring this all on themselves, but are victims of circumstance. She chose to have 16 kids, use babies as a way to save a marriage, and put out on the first date with her rebound guy. Meanwhile, his thought processes are divorced from reason, what with his

@LucilleBluth: In my experience, the ones who live in highly secular societies (like Britain, where religion is much more of a non-issue) are even worse. Because fundamentalism is less of a cultural institution, the people who are "into" it are there because they gravitated to it and are actively committed to

@Christian Parrinello: Your objections have everything to do with male privilege. Everything in your argument begins with the assumption that we are talking about two groups who are equal to one aother; nothing you say makes sense without first accepting that assumption. You might even be right; if that assumption

@alula: That place is where I go to reassure myself that not everyone on the 'net is a clueless privileged douchetard jackhole. Sf_drama achieves this amazing balance of snark with self-awareness.

Thank heaven I was raised pro-choice and didn't have to struggle like some of the commenters below... I am riveted by the stories this article is drawing out. Thank you to all for sharing.

@PortraitHat: Yes. It is such a huge relief to hear about men like him, especially after that commenter a few weeks back who had to take BC on the sly because her husband believed anti-choice rhetoric about how it works.

@GoodBadNotEvil: I adore Russell Brand. I am not a beautiful woman, but when I met him, he treated me like I was Helen of Troy. The memory still makes me feel euphoric.

@GoodBadNotEvil: He says "Hare Krishna" at the end of most of his shows, and although he did a conventional outpatient rehab program to detox, he credits them (and a particular Swami he met) with his victory over heroin addiction.

@bunnies, etc.: ....I still don't follow. The person responsible for stealing the shoes was the person who took them. No one else.
