@Perpetual Ingenue: I agree with everything Dorothy Barker said, but I also agree with you that her comment doesn't address the facts of human existence that you mentioned: connecting, evolving, companionship. I reconcile this seeming contradiction with my belief that we live on two separate levels simultaneously. I

@Cairn: I have already said elsewhere in this thread that I am NOT for public voting. However, I think that petitions, political contributions, motions and points of order should be part of the public record. Essentially, I support the status quo. The three arenas I mention are structured to be carried out in public

@Mark 2000: You can read here for some examples of his transphobia.

@Our Lady of the Massacre: Scroll down to see what M was wearing under the coat. It's wine-coloured and gorgeous.

@bluebears: It seems to be an epidemic among people with white, male, and class privilege.

@bluebears: Samesies. I used to be a fan. Now whenever I am tempted to read his column, I go back to this.

Loving Lola's new haircut - I wish she wouldn't straighten her hair all the time, though. I miss her curls!

@NefariousNewt: " expect reasonable protection against retaliation by others"

@Admiral Babyruthless: I, like drinkwater, would like to see the links about the people who lost their jobs for being anti-gay. If that did happen, perhaps it was not for their stance, but because they were using their employer's property or time for personal reasons.

I agree that individual identification could be kept off of votes/secret ballots, but I have no problem with contributions and petitions and motions being public record. There are already existing laws against harassment, uttering

@AnnaBanana: IANAL, or an expert, but this is my understanding on the public policy on this issue: everyone who engages with the political and legal system should leave a paper trail. Isn't everything set up that way, anyway? The default is for things to become public record, unless there is a compelling reason for

@Writingirl: Yeah, I think "pause to delay sex" is advocating abstinence for teens. Also, "pause to think about your future" and use of the word "consequences" is reminiscent of the "If you have sex you WILL get HIV and DIE" rhetoric of which the anti-sex crowd is so fond.

@mahada: Well, she went through the legal system, with judges presiding and everything, so apparently it IS legal to adopt internationally from Malawi. If it weren't, she wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. I trust the judges on this one. They know their own law, I presume.

@mahada: Hey, as I said, I don't object to this individual adoption - I just find the universal approval troubling.

@MizJenkins: We're still waiting for the privilege to be addressed, as was promised.

@frankie22: There is evidence that there are certain universal traits which affect us on a subconscious level. For example, on seeing an attractive person, our pupils will dilate, which is also an involuntary response we have to seeing someone who we find pleasantly familiar, like our best friend. There are thousands
