Ugh I had to fly when I had just 6 weeks to go (doctor approved, calm down) and this was my biggest fear. Second-biggest fear was giving birth down in SC and having to drive back to Maine with a newborn right after. Can you imagine 16 hours of sitting in a car after having your hooha blown open? GUH.

I hate people who bring their babies with them on planes.

Planned Parenthood is not exactly the best when it comes to putting young people first.

I've had a friend/mentee who, two years ago, was all about anti-Planned Parenthood, anti-choice. anti-BCP if you couldn't pay full price for it, etc. Now that he actually HAS a girlfriend, he's been asking me progressively more complex questions and has done a 180 regarding PP. It seems like he actually wants to know

People hate what they are instructed to hate.

Nope. Sex is a thing that a boy does to a girl which should make the the boy feel good and the girl ashamed afterwards. And in a marriage sex is a thing that a woman has to do in order to keep her man from straying from God.

We wouldn't want the next generation of American adults to be educated and able to make decisions for themselves. You look at the comments on that post, the people who are against information and critical thinking, they are just puppets to be led around by con men. None of their complaints have any basis in reality,

My SLC high school put on a production of Grease in the early 90's, which was pretty much the extent of our sex ed program. One of the mothers was very vocally horrified when she had to explain what Aunt Flo was to her sweet innocent THIRTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.

They want them shamed about every sex act- just like they are. I really believe that some people go through their entire lives, married & having kids, and being ashamed of sex. I also don't think they have the capacity to understand that your kid being comfortably informed about sex, doesn't mean they're going to

Generally speaking, we try to teach people basic life skills at least a little bit before we expect them to actually use them. You have to practice driving a bit before you get a license, etc. So, sure, 13 and 14 are on the young side to be having sex, which doesn't mean that some of those kids aren't already sexually

What will they do without the al-cohol...I mean Freedom Juice?

I used to be in a Theatre troupe as a teen run by planned parenthood. We taught about teen sex issues through skits and then a Q&A at the end. What we taught was no different then what i learned in sex ed at school. One time a local newspaper said that we were all obviously sexually promiscuous and were trying to

Do they actually believe that just learning about gender identities other than male and female will ruin their childrens' lives in the same way learning about gay people might?

I don't understand the pearl clutching about social justice

Lafayette is a very conservative, wealthy suburb. For decades it has existed as the gated community for Republicans of the Bay Area. Not surprised at all that this happened there. If it makes people feel any better, there are at least 5 planned parenthoods available via Bart/Amtrak/Caltrain for those Lafayette kids

Goddammit.

not to mention Arabic numerals!

We should tell them that the Muslins invented al-jabr...I mean algebra. it will blow their minds.

Mark my words—this "social justice" argument is a right-wing talking point with respect to education reform.

I'm kind of mad at liberal parents not standing up and saying this shit is fine. Where are the drag down to the floor fights over this stuff?
