If an unsigned integer is being used and the only check is “if ( rank > 5000 ) rank = 5000;” then underflow would cause -1 to wrap to the max value and then clamp back down to 5000, so it could still be integer underflow.

Relativity doesn’t make something less terrible. MMO launches are consistently terrible, and this has been worse than that, at least for me. Most MMO launches are “Oh I can’t log in. I skipped the second and third movies as the CG was really off-putting in the first one. I honestly had no idea that they were sticking with this style for the TV series and I’m immediately bummed out by it. I’ll give it a shot since I’ve always wanted to see the rest of the story, but man what a disappointment.

I would be suprised if the devs hadn't already thought of that. You're thinking about this from a traditional storytelling style. Hopefully they arnt. My best guess is that switching characters isn't quite as free as first appears.
