Nearly all the trailers for Death Stranding seized my attention like little else I can think of. Admittedly, nearly all of them were unedited cutscenes taken straight from the game, but the bizarre imagery and music and the refusal to clarify what the game was for literal years was terrific. Wish more games did that.

While I’m a big fan of the Bioshock series, I really wish they wouldn’t revisit it. Nothing good will come of it. The originals were masterful single-player experiences, with multiplayer being at best an afterthought. In today’s video game landscape, everything is an always online live service, with little attention…

Well, crap: I was hyped to see this opening weekend but forgot all about this crap.

Yeah, it's super hard to plow through a game when you can't even see the screen through the tears 😭

But fam I have a job and responsibilities, I can’t blast through Last of Us 2, I gotta take my time and cry while playing it.

If you can find a way to play and ‘support’ the original, please do. It’s one of the few games that legit scares the hell out of me. And it’s still surprising me every time I boot it up.

They almost did reboot it with Dead Sun and with Sam Barlow at the helm no less. Silent Hills and this one are my top contenders for worse cancellations of all time.

Well I believe the narrative was supposed to be finished at the end of Soul Reaver with the whole ‘open all the pipes and kill all the vampires in the world’ thing that never got implemented into the game. Would have wrapped it up nicely.

Huh. I... actually had the opposite problem, I had no idea where you’d take the franchise after Defiance. I mean (vague spoilers, in case you want to play this 15 year old game), the whole thing closes the time loop and resolves the entire situation.

I can’t believe I forgot how great that game was. Yes, the intro. But the gameplay for me was just fantastic. Switching back and forth between the two planes... defeating bosses and absorbing their powers... learning new skills... just so much fun.

I was seventeen when this game came out, and right in that self-involved headspace that made me think, “Raziel’s right, man; the world just doesn’t understand him! And FUCK Kain, man! Can’t stand letting his ‘son’ surpass him!”

...it didn’t take long after that for me to think, “Y’know, ol’ Raz has his head up his ass…
