Can’t disagree with any of your points, but what is the alternative? Realistically, it’s that these broader audiences don’t engage with these issues *at all*, and those that may have been primed to genuinely educate themselves further may not get to that point.

I doubt the book title sprang from Olou’s head like Athena from Zeus either. It’s a pretty common word formulation.

Putting aside the Instagram account in question here, I personally know numerous people who have been introduced to certain issues and started to learn about them because it’s been converted to into more digestible forms of content on social media. That includes black folks learning about black issues. It’s ended up

Not sad — pathetic. He’s in the Woody Allen “you can’t even wink at a woman these days,” Club. He just doesn’t want to make the effort to learn how to treat women as equals in the workplace. He probably resents that he’s being ‘policed’ by the feminazis, so he’s going to make a statement by STILL treating women

“The control he had to hurt his own daughter, he loved it. I worked seven days a week ... it was like sex trafficking. I didn’t have a credit card, cash or my passport.”

you mean that shit she did as a child with no real knowledge of what it meant, that everyone shat on you for posting about in the last comments section?

Wow, you guys are really doubling down on trying to make this huge nothingburger a thing, aren’t you?

She shouldn’t have said boo, because she had nothing for which to apologize.

This obsession with public self-flagellation is truly something to behold. Entire articles on how apologies are crafted by PR people and then dissected in excruciating detail and deemed either bullshit (as most of them are) or okay this one is fine because it’s insanely over the top and she sounds like she’s slapping h

That’s probably the best apology of its genre I’ve seen and certainly comes across as sincere. Good on her.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure the animal rescue is a cause already close to this woman’s heart, and when put on the spot, it was the first thing that came to mind. The snark about it seems pointless, at best.  Caring about things isn’t a zero-sum game.

Can we not just let this be a good story? Getting judgemental about the choice of charity receiving the customers’ goodwill seems petty.

There are some very weird takes in here.

If someone orchestrated me an elaborate birthday party, it would be all over the socials for sure.

Morgan has been publicly bashing Markle for over 5 years. Is that what a nice person does?

I’d agree with you if they we’re both over 30 when it started. But she was 21 when they met and he was in a mentorship position over her during a competition that would determine if she became famous for a music career. Not saying it absolutely can’t have been a healthily developed relationship, but I am saying there

I had the same thought. What the fuck are they supposed to do? Encourage people to vote, but don’t vote too hard or pray over their vote?

But on the same hand, Aniston’s initial plea also reveals that celebrities like her watch far too much MSNBC, in turn, morphing average rom-com stars like her into bona fide heroes in their imagined “resistance.”

I mean - did you miss the part where he died and the gifts kept on coming?  I don’t think being undead is a PTSD symptom
