Yep it looks totally goofy but I read elsewhere it is a google issue—Android Auto does not support widescreens yet. Apparently they (Google) are working on an update

TOTALLY--X2 was fucking amazing. Still hard to believe how bad X3 was. Looking back it could have been an incredible trilogy
