GamersNexus showed the screw would literally gouge out PCB dust on normal insertion/removal as well, so even if there was a gap between the screw and the power-carrying copper in the PCB, there wouldn’t be for long.

This has nothing to do with that. There’s a manufacturing flaw in the PCB where the holes for the screws were right next to copper that runs inside the PCB transferring power. The screws, if vibrated or replaced even a couple times, would chip away at a tiny bit of PCB separating the two causing a power loop and fire.
