Well, good news/bad news: The crime index in Newark is high, but Milwaukee's is higher! And I've lived in Milwaukee 3 years, never felt threatened.
We have a friend who moved out there, he doesn't seem to mind it. The building we looked at though, insane. Midrise, doorman, weight room, convenience store, floor to ceiling windows, dining room. To split the rent on a 2 bedroom, is $150 less than my little 1-bedroom in a worn down 4-floor 1970's apartment complex.
My friend and I just discovered how much more we can get in an apartment in Newark, NJ versus here in Milwaukee, for so much less money (!!!!!) and still be a 20 minute train ride from NYC.

Today, I went to FedEx and had four copies of my masters thesis printed on the required watermarked, 100% cotton paper, so that tomorrow, I can bring it to be signed by my advisor and given the official stamp of approval by the graduate school and then bound.
