It's hard to take any of this article seriously when they screw up something so simple.

It is kind of interesting to consider how a bunch of the ridiculousness of this thing is based on trying to solve the production and support issues that have plagued them in the past.

Who would want this? Why would a factory want to introduce a fuckton of complexity into their production line? Why would a tesla owner want to spend a bunch of money to have a refreshed version of their old car? Why would a jalop want to constrain the supply of junkyard tesla parts?

If a bicyclist wants to use public motorways and want to have equal footing in regards to traffic, they should follow all of the similar laws that cars and motorcyclists do. That includes helmet laws, mandatory insurance laws, and just obeying fucking stop signs, right of way, and not acting like the traffic laws…

So maybe instead there should be bicyclist liability insurance, like you need for legally driving a car? That way the rates could be higher to account for those that don’t wear a helmet, much like cars are currently designed (and insurance rates adjusted) to compensate for people who don’t wear their seat belts?
