The referee has zero obligation to explain any of his calls.

Per the FIFA Laws of the Game, the Red Card is only shown to Players and Substitues. Team officials (to include coaches, medical staff, trainers, etc.) are not to be shown a card. Instead, the hand signal is commonly used. The referee does this early in the video clip.
