This is the way. The electric pulls in some cars are for - I think? - for the sake of frameless windows.
He seems like he’d think it was ‘funny’
Then they just shrugged it off bc she was drunk. Drunk people can still open car doors
This door info is news to me. It’s horrible. How the fuck does this get past regulators? Of course in the text four years we can expect even more of this garbage.
It may sound silly, I don’t like when my Uber is a Tesla because I always imagine a scenario where I’m stuck inside.
That’s exactly how the handles on my vehicle work, and you don’t break anything if you accidentally activate the emergency release. The door just opens like normal.
I dunno. The husbands response to the accident was slobbing Elon’s knob rather than demanding change. Maybe that’s just rich people hating each other though.
The former Department of Transportation and wife of Senator Turtle McTurtle Neck Elain Choa’s sister drowned after her tesla rolled into a pond and couldnt get out of the car
youd think that would be enough to make some sort of federal mandate
Exactly. The assembly line labour cost to install the backup handle is the same as installing a regular mechanical handle. If they want low effort they can add an electric actuator to the mechanical system as a ‘booster’ but both the inside and outside handles should open without any power in the car.
Awareness about Tesla Door handles isn’t the problem. The IDIOTIC design of them in the first place is.
I know after I’ve been in a violent, disorienting crash and I see flames growing in front of me, I have the focus and fine motor skills to locate a black plastic latch on a black panel that I’ve never used before or have even noticed.
My mom has a Model 3 that I’ve driven quite a bit. I’ve had people find the manual release for the front doors by accident in it, so it’s not too terrible. But hers doesn’t even have a manual release for the rear doors; I’ve checked. And even when they have them, wow that is an awful design.
The fact that it is required to engineer and implement a mechanical “back up” suggests to me that it is absolutely not cheaper or more cost effective to go with electronic door pulls.
Sorry, but I find it HIGHLY unlikely that people were finding and lifting the invisible front door release or uncovering and pulling the completely hidden rear door release before seeing the clearly marked door open buttons on the doors.
Other cars (Ferrari 360) has the same type of latch, but it is the one you use every time you open the door.
First off, middle of the pack?? They are entirely hidden from view... on purpose! You really think that is a good idea in any way? If so, please explain. And while you’re at it, go ahead and list all of the cars that also have completely hidden door handles and why they aren’t equally dumb.
Have you heard of “disruption” good sir?
“That front release is well designed and intelligently placed.”
Can you imagine the morons who sat there designing this thing and literally thought “how can we better hide this emergency release latch so it can’t be seen at all?”
