That’s nice. It’s not right, in that there are plenty of artists who like her and have said so, and that whether vast swaths of the public like something isn’t the only kind of “musical relevance” (and could be argued, especially in the context of an album with a controversial subject, to be an obviously problematic

How many true artists fly under the radar? Many.

Are you seriously trying to silence a work that makes so many people feel so much because... you don’t think Solange is going to “happen”?

I’m just going to put my headphones on and listen to I Decided on repeat (i.e., the song that made me love Solange’s music).

This idea that “English” is equivalent to white is the problem, so that doesn’t even remotely excuse his lack of diversity, especially since he’s a nerd from Los Angeles County.

FYI, the contestants don’t choose the song nor do they choose the choreography. So it wasn’t her decision to dance to that song. Also, if you watched the clip, you would see she was clearly hesitant and looked uncomfortable during the dance and afterwards. I don’t understand why pointing it out makes me an asshole.

The sad thing is, in “Downton Abbey” the black character made SENSE.

They’re talking about her persona, not her body. Similar to when a boring/mediocre white actor or entertainer gets compared to “white bread.” Buttered noodles = bland, boring, etc.

you seem stressed

It would be nice to see characters of color that are not there to be tokens OR to be characters where their entire personality is their ethnicity. Like “sassy black friend”, eek.

I get to use this image again!

How to become a doctor in this country:

Isn’t that just called ‘training’?

I think probably Bc everybody was so busy fawning over birth of a nation as this years showing of black excellence... But then Nate Parkers past came out :\ thankfully there’s this, and it looks amazing

I’d have a hard time taking my kids to an actively war ravaged place like Syria. I see his point. As an adult she can go where she wants - her person, her decision, but he does have equal say in where the kids go, no?

As a white person, I used to think I wouldn’t want anything to do with racist white people, but then you see it in little ways coming from nice “progressive” whites. A clerk who won’t sell a black man a beer who is clearly over 50 because he doesn’t have ID, a white family walking on the beach sees a black couple

I thought that was sort of bullsht and not giving white people a lot of credit, and then you see Kim K all “hmmm.... should I vote for the white supremacist guy or not not white supremacist lady?”

After seeing so many people say they don’t wash their legs. But, really, y’all motherfuckers need Jesus. And soap. Lots of soap.

Water falls on your legs while you shower so why bother getting down there with soap?

Anthony Weiner might be going to prison. Brad Pitt will be fine. I think the answer is obvious.
