So, basically, they are attempting to blackmail the family into silence with the threat of releasing her name. I mean, that’s what it sounds like to me. Correct me if that’s wrong.

I don’t think that is the issue here. NHS appears to be doing everything they can to make sure women can still access abortion services.

There is no way getting an article published on a commercial website is legal for an unpaid intern.

Yes, agreed. But I would go further to argue that who is performing audits or looking into the unpaid internships? I made a similar comment just now because I just don’t get how people can do this. I recognize that many are forced into it for professional experience. In fact, many career coaches and temp agencies will

None, because if you in fact did act traumatized, then they would say that you were acting too traumatized and thus must be lying. Welcome to the circular logic of victim blaming 101.

Or local muggers knew that there would be out of towners around, wealthy out of towners due to the Olympics and posed as taxi drivers to rob anyone who came out of the Olympic village. Seriously, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Because apparently they result to victim blaming when the cops can’t find any evidence. Can’t imagine why the cops and judge would not want the bad press of an Olympian being robbed at gunpoint. I’m sure they tried really hard to find evidence.

Agreed, except that if guns are taken away as a result of a DV call I don’t doubt that the abuser would blame the other spouse for that and more violence would result. Absence of guns makes a home environment less volatile, but it doesn’t make it safe.

Yup. It’s so simple, yet apparently for some an impossible concept to grasp. Some people are just not stable enough to be in charge of a killing machine. In fact, most people are not.

Just because a solution won’t fix every problem doesn’t mean it’s useless. Removing guns from homes with suspected battery won’t close gun show loopholes, or strengthen background checks, but imagine the difference all three types of changes could make in concert.

My advice, free of charge: If you’re planning a murder-suicide, just reverse the order. You’ll never know the difference.

Thanks for the rec, I am a true crime podcast junky because they’re the only thing that keep me distracted on long runs. And now I can justify it as work because I’m planning a seminar for 2017-2018 on the history of murder in America. I definitely plan to delve into common threads about motives, means, victims, etc.,

I am still experiencing complete anger and shock over this news. I knew this family and spent time with the 2 older kids, especially Lianna. The whole community will be in mourning for a long time.

It will never happen, but when the police are called to a domestic dispute, they should remove any and all firearms from the house, every time, regardless of whether someone is arrested. You should have to apply to get them back, and have your spouse sign that application.

Hearbreaking.

After his little display of banging on the dock, shouting sieg heil, making a nazi salute, and then singing some kind of fascist song she said ‘We’re all very impressed. Take him down.’ (Take him down meaning take him back to the cells btw) Which is the most dead pan and condescending response possible and makes him

No, it is absolutely not normal, hence the $16 million verdict. That shit is definitely malpractice.

Not if she’s the issuing judge. She’s got a right to temporarily do what she wants with it.

Amber Wolf for SCOTUS

When you sit in a court of law day in and day out, it’s easy to forget that your litigants are human beings with lives outside of the justice system. Good on Judge Wolf for not forgetting and for not being afraid to sometimes let common sense prevail over the black letter law. She is a credit to the bar.
