I am Black and have read mostly reviews by other Black people, including two Black historians. The overwhelming historical inaccuracy, when the true story is already so fascinating without any of that, turns me off. Of course I also have an issue with the rape allegations, allowing his rapist buddy to write the film

Wrong thread?

Well, considering I’m Black and almost every review I’ve read was written by Black people, including two Black historians, that is not an issue for me.

The title was intentional. It’s meant to be ironic.

It’s possible that I would have eventually watched this movie in the privacy of my own home, even with the rape allegations, if it was at all historically accurate, didn’t seem obsessed with adding fictional rapes and treating women as damsels in distress with little agency and objects to further the stories of the

“They’re actual reaction to me, the first black president, was to try and elect a gold plated rapey George Wallace...”

I’ve always thought the Clintons looked like great parents.

Did anyone else feel like the ad campaigns for this movie using Black Lives Matter footage were super tacky? I get where they’re going with it, the historical context is relevant to what’s happening now, but ultimately they’re using a social movement (and indirectly, the deaths of black men) to sell tickets.

That tends to happen when you have a couple of rapists trying to sell a movie and they throw in a rape scene that is historically inaccurate.

Controversy aside, it seems like. . .maybe it wasn’t that good of a movie? I’ve been reading “struggled” a lot when it comes to BoaN, and not just with box office returns.

She knew. Problem is, for all appearances she likes it. I’m having trouble mustering sympathy and that might make me a bad person but she had her chance to gtfo. Standing by the racist sniffle man at this point makes it clear she’s either totally OK with it, or is pretending hard to stay in the will. Either way it’s

I know I do and he’s younger than me.

To be fair, we also all wish Michelle was our mom, too.

I think everyone kind of wishes, deep down, that Obama was their dad.

She was taught daddy sexualizing her was normal and loving.

I can’t help but feel somewhere deep in her heart she wishes Obama was her real father.

Yeah. You have to be groomed to think this is okay.

And the theory that she was abused early and often until she thought it was normal and internalized it grows stronger...

Her recoil from his kiss was AMAZING. And he shook Ivanka’s hand!
