The ecoboost is lightyears ahead of the old 5.4 and is slightly superior to the 5.0 in almost all load RPM ranges. I’ve spent much time in the 4.6 and 5.4 F150. There is no comparison.

I can think of exactly zero times I’ve intentionally lugged the engine to gain traction. With lockers and knobby tires it’s all about wheel speed and clearing the tires.
