You can try the Progressive tracking thing (sorry I don't know the name) supposedly for very low mileage drivers this is a good deal.
Looks pretty similar to http://www.whitefence.com/. Which I previously used and it resulted in a ton of junk snail mail.
I am all for conservation and I think LED bulbs are great, but I would not recommend them as a means to save money. I realize they are less expensive in the long run, but that is a long investment. Particularly for people who are already cash strapped.
Generally I agree that it is a stretch to call LEDs the most cost effective light. Fluorescents certainly still hold that position.
Insteon, ZWave, Zigbee, X10... tons of stuff out there that will do lights.
Ahh, good solution. I have been thinking about doing this and the materials I had thought of were either more complicated or less attractive that this. I might countersink the screws though.
I took a week off work for a reno-cation "renovation vacation"??

I am surprised by the number of people who seem so strongly against an allowance.
Wow, great pilot, damn nails the center-line and hits the touchdown marker dead on.
I couldnt be more happier with mine. The amount of time for me to pay it off with savings is probably 2 years. It is so bizarre that this technology is so rate these days. On low it uses 40 watts and is almost inaudible.
Lacking a return line is difficult, but there are a few solutions out there. This one pumps the luke warm water out of the hot water line and dumps it into the cold water line:
