John Oliver and Trump have a feud going back a couple years. While running for President, Trump called his show “very boring” and claimed that he turned down a request to be on it. Oliver said they never invited him and that he will NEVER interview Trump. Then they used Trump’s quotes in the ads for their show.

I get nauseated just reading about the exchange secondhand. I’m happy there are allies like him to ask those questions because I’m pretty sure I’d just smile and then throw up.

I think the more relevant fact is that all of the critics you listed have backgrounds in comedy, not journalism.

Every single time some dude says, “What can I do?,” I think, “I wish I had a good example of an ally” but I could never locate one.

I want to say that the collective USA doesn’t deserve John Oliver, but women sure do. He’s beyond amazing.

I would love for him to interview a Trump, or even someone Trump-adjacent, but they won’t come within 500 feet of him after this, or any of the other well-researched interviews he’s done.

I think after criticizing coal barons and interviewing Snowden in person, John Oliver has honed himself to take on any topic that requires courage.
