Thank you. Also the 80% chance you won’t need to go to the hospital. That’s a 1/5 chance you will end up at best on O2 in the hospital for weeks.

I have trademarked it the COVID19 face palm (tm).
If you watch, while he touched his face he completely avoided his eyes, nose and mouth (the t-zone you’re supposed to avoid).
A physical manifestation of the banality of evil?
He’s so proud that he’s now a “war” president. Although does seem to have been the magic word ego burst that got him
A number of governors are really stepping up. Inslee in Washington, Polis in Colorodo, Newsome in California, Wolf in Pennsylvania. spring to mind. Even some republican governors like DeWine in Ohio who not only shut nonessential travel down but also was saying there weren’t just 100 people in the state with the virus…
Except for fracking. He seemed to do the right thing on keeping fracking out of NYC of his own volition.
I think America fell for Rudy after 9/11 more than NYC.
There are a lot of assholes out there, that’s how it happened: https://www.boredpanda.com/shaming-coronavirus-jerks/?utm_source=getpocket&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=organic
If the federal government sends me money, I would donate it. I told my friend the other day that I since I couldn’t take her out dinner for her birthday I was going to donate that money to the food bank as her gift.
I agree. I work in a hospital. I’m not going to get laid off. Give it to people who need it. Give it to gig workers who can’t collect unemployment. Give it to people whose hours are cut. Give it to tipped workers who won’t be making tips.
You work for Amazon. The relative works in an Amazon warehouse. Possibly a contractor rather than employee and contractors may be getting very different treatment with respect sick time.
There was an Australian one a few years ago that did get any sort of wide release. I haven’t even seen it available for streaming. I don’t think it would have been a huge it but is was a nice, funny romantic comedy.
That’s how I’m feeling these days about not saving for retirement. Go me!
I’m in IT at at hospital and doing the same thing. So hard not to touch my face. Soooooo hard.
South Korea started testing and quarantines quickly - keeping the virus from overwhelming their hospitals. So they can properly treat the sick. From what I’ve read about Italy, their hospitals are completely overwhelmed so the actual death rate will end up higher.
The flu is somewhat different because there’s a herd immunity because so many people get the flu vaccine which slows the spread.
South Korea is looking at a sub 1% mortality rate (although it’s early as I’ve read things can go from mild to critical very suddenly) - likely because they quarantined and started testing aggressively right away. They focused on the public health emergency and not the optics.
Yes, but they’re actually testing. As far as I’m concerned, the US numbers are close to meaningless until we have about 100,000 test results in. That seems like a lot but South Korea has been test 10,000+ people a day for weeks now.
