So, if the situation was reversed and this story was about you, you would have no problem with people calling you a spoiled rich kid who got to go racing because Daddy has money. Dude, get over yourself. She’s using the opportunity she’s been given - that’s all - to participate in a sport that DOES require money. You

I participate in a male-dominated sport. And I can’t even count all the times some guy has said to me, “The only reason that move worked on me was because you caught me off guard.”

Most top flight racers came from boatloads of cash. Many still had lots of family members in the sport - look at the current Formula 1 field. That’s the reality of it. She is no different from the rest of them and the fact that she’s capable of doing all of this while also studying to be an engineer at goddam

I’d like to preface this by saying that I absolutely love the courage it takes for girls and women to suit up to race professionally or otherwise. It takes guts for anyone to do it and a little bit more for someone outside the norm to try.

I’m always amazed that a technical and technique based endeavor like motorsports can harbor such primitive views of what it takes to succeed.

If your response to this article is anything other than a variation of, “that’s dope,” then mind your mother and keep your damn mouth shut since you can’t say nice things.

Katherine Legge is fast becoming one of my favorite drivers. She’s fast, paid her dues by driving the Delta Wing for years and doesn’t take crap from other drivers. I like the NSX a lot too, though I haven’t paid much attention to the production version because it’s way too expensive.

I love that it’s a PT Cruiser, which is like the poster car for vapid people with no taste.

Well, that’s small potatoes. She didn’t get fired for performance or misconduct. She was fired for essentially lying in her complaints.

If this is correct, then her male counterparts are likely being promoted and given higher raises than her. Not because she’s being discriminated against, but because she doesn’t have the relevant degree for her position. I could easily see her feeling discriminated for that, presuming she was adequately performing in

i’m not sure i understand how she even became an engineer in the first place with no background or technical training?

Friggin’ this. You’re never going to see more women in racing until we feel welcome there—and aren’t viewed as just “scenery.”

I did read the article and I disagree with the opinion that the Monster girls are to blame. Just because someone else is offended doesn’t give them the right to tell others that they have to be offended too and that we’re bad people if we’re not as offended as she is.

But seriously, this is part of the problem. You’re assuming all drivers are men, because this is the systematic mindset about women and men in racing.

Ha! I just get incredulous looks when I forget that it's an unusual hobby. "Oh yeah, I have this car I've been working on. Uh, it's a racecar we're prepping for this beater series. Yeah, I have a racecar. Uh, it's a Porsche from the 80s. A 944. It's worth $500 max." Then I sometimes want to kick myself for bringing it

As a "car guy", I must add that other car guys, actual enthusiasts, don't particularly like loud-mouthed braggarts hanging around, either. We don't like BS stories form people trying to impress us with their lack of knowledge. It's a peeve of mine to hear anyone misrepresent automotive fact. I don't care that your

You're forgetting the "man-splainy" ones. The guys who think that somehow I showed up at an HPDE and just got lost and don't know WTF this thing is with four wheels. I know how to change my oil, I know how to service my brakes, I know how to prep my car for the track. I don't need some guy trying to "white knight"
