I grew up in Southern Ohio to West Virginian parents. . . it is called pop. I moved to rural NC as an adult, and people have no idea what "pop" is. Here it is "soda" or a "coke" or "Mountain Dew" or whatever you're drinking. So, yeah, Daryl wouldn't probably call it "pop" either.
