That’s kind of negates the bigger battery benefit to usb-c. It would allow phones to have more space inside for slightly bigger batterys, but if manufacturers just make them thinner that would hurt battery life. So is it really that big a deal the 3.5mm jacks limit thinness.

Headphone jacks are a lot tougher than USB ports
