That ridership number is merely for the Red/Purple Line. Overall, Metro Rail has over 110 million boardings annually. And LA Metro buses have over 326 million annual boardings.

Also, Metro is a county-wide, regional transportation agency that has to serve the various needs of a sprawled county. If you look at LA City

The thing is, the LA Metro area is an enormous area that does indeed hold a ton of people but many are not even remotely close to a train. It’s simply not an option.

The busiest freeways are only now staring to have parallel train lines.

That would be because mostly black and Latino people live in the area that train services.

bumblebee tuna...your privilege is showing.

Yeah, she is known as “the lady who speaks in tongues.”

Came to say this. I’ve lived in Downtown for over 13 years. Used the Metro every day for about 8 of them. I would tell friends, “let’s just take the subway instead of driving there!” and a response was typically, “Since when do we have a subway?” and then they’d be shocked at how packed the thing would be.

I work in a major city, I walk with a cane, and I need to hold the escalator with my right hand, so I need to stand on the right. I’be been on the receiving end of that brand of “excuse me” on a daily basis for years, most often by people who never look back to see who they’re shaming.

hi troll. just FYI i feel much safer on the metro than I do on the street most of the time. bye troll.

Yeah, for real, why does Kara think nobody uses Metro? Why the hell would we be expanding it if no one used it?

How about pools? Gerd Gigerenzer wrote a book about how a pool on the property is more likely to lead to a dead child than a firearm.
